While delivering a Goodwill message today Thursday 10, November 2022 at the National Films &Videos Censors Board (NFVCB) event, Prof. Ododo described the Executive Director of the sister agency as “a spirit catcher.” The GM/CEO of National Theatre explained to the audience of film makers, actors, directors, producers and streaming platforms the reason for the metaphoric assertion: Netflix was seen as sprit before now, but Alhaji Adedayo Thomas (Executive Director) has been able to catch it [Netflix]. (In commendation of the presence of the presence of the number one online movie streaming platform in the world at the NFVBC conference). Prof Sunday Ododo further extolled the host for his untiring effort to reposition the agency “an office is as good as the occupier. And the occupier of the office of Executive Director of NFVBC is Alhaji Adebayo Thomas… who has brought robust awareness to the activities of the NFVBC.” The GM/CEO had earlier impressed upon the gathering that societies need order to progress well and for the film industry to progress well there must be order which is what the conference is all about “2nd Nigeria Digital Content Regulation Conference.
”Netflix made a presentation steeped in facts and figures of the enormous investments of the streaming platform in Nigeria, the amount of shows it (Netflix) has running in Nigeria, and also presented three Nigerians on Netflix scholarship. The online movie streaming platform also called for interested talented Nigerians to come and make use of the resources as Nigerian contents are in hot demand in Brazil, Canada, UK, US etc. Tunde Kilani, Keppy Ekpenyong – Bassey, Kunle Afolayn, Fred Amata, were among those who joined the representatives of Netflix at the conference.
